What this looks like for you

Most people come in unsure whether medication is the right move. That’s okay. Your first visit is 60 minutes — long enough for us to actually understand what’s been going on and what you’ve tried, and to have a real conversation about what would help.

If medication makes sense, we’ll explain why we’re recommending what we’re recommending, what to expect (including side effects), and how we’ll know if it’s working. If medication isn’t the right step, we’ll say so and talk about what else might help.

How visits work

15-minute call to start

Our intake team confirms your insurance, answers questions, and books your first appointment. Most people are seen within 1 business day.

Your first visit (60 minutes)

You’ll meet your clinician — the same person who’ll see you going forward. We talk through your history, what brings you in, what’s already been tried, and where you’d like to be.

Ongoing visits

Usually every 4–12 weeks, depending on what’s going on. We track how you’re doing with brief check-ins (the same questionnaires used in research) so progress is visible to both of us.

Brief therapy at follow-ups

Many of our follow-up visits include time for actual therapy work alongside the medication conversation. You don’t have to schedule a separate session for that.

About your clinician. Your care is provided by a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC), licensed independently in Connecticut with full prescriptive authority.

In-person, video, or both

Some patients prefer to come into our East Lyme office. Some prefer secure video calls from home or work. Most do a mix. There’s no “right” answer — the only thing that matters is what makes ongoing care actually doable for your life.
