Our care
Advanced treatments
When the usual treatments haven’t been enough, there are options that work through different pathways. We’re bringing those to our East Lyme office.
What “advanced treatment” means
About a third of people with depression don’t get full relief from standard antidepressants. That’s not a personal failure — it’s the biology of how depression works. There are FDA-approved treatments designed specifically for these situations, working through different mechanisms than oral medications.
Most clinics treat these as separate services that require leaving your psychiatrist and starting over with a new team. We’re building it differently. When these treatments go live at our East Lyme office, you won’t have to leave your existing Northline care team to access them.

Coming soon
Spravato (esketamine)
An FDA-approved nasal spray for treatment-resistant depression. You receive it in our office under monitoring, and many patients see results in days rather than weeks.

Coming soon
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)
FDA-cleared brain stimulation for depression and OCD. No medication, no anesthesia. About 20 minutes a day for 6–9 weeks. You can drive yourself home and go back to work.
Who these treatments are for
- Depression that hasn’t responded to two or more antidepressants
- Severe depression with active suicidal thinking (Spravato has a specific indication for this)
- Depression where medication side effects have been hard to tolerate
- OCD that hasn’t responded to standard SSRI plus exposure therapy (TMS has a specific indication)
If you’re already a Northline patient, just ask your clinician at any visit. If you’re not yet, we can talk during your first visit about whether one of these treatments might be right for you down the road.
What’s coming later
Beyond Spravato and TMS, we’re tracking the FDA approval pathways for several other treatments — including ketamine therapy and (when regulation permits) MDMA-assisted therapy and psilocybin-assisted therapy. More on what we’re tracking →
